Visit to gardens at Coton Manor

Wisteria at Coton Manor

I meant to post some of these pics of the wonderful gardens at Coton Manor in Northamptonshire a while ago, but something went awry on my server and then I was too busy to post anything.

Anyway, a couple of weekends ago Mrs Barnabas and I stayed with our friends Howard and Liz from our days at Exeter University back in the wild 1960s.

One of our outings was to the 17th century Coton Manor, where the gardens are open to the public at certain times.

Here are Howard and Liz with Mrs Barnabas examining a circular bed near the house.

A bit like my garden really. Not.

Gorgeous – I love wisteria but it takes forever to mature, so I’ve never bothered planting it.

Love the wisteria, esp the scent of it! Missing spring as we hunker down for winter here

The wisteria was magnificent and is well known in the gardening fraternity/sorority, I believe. It was a bit sad to come back to our little patch after seeing such beautiful gardens, which were truly a place of the spirit.
