The Baha’i World News Service has posted its story about the threat that the 7 Baha’i leaders, unjustly detained for some 8 months, and a fascinating set of biographies of these Baha’is. It’s worth reading them to see what kind of “villains” the Iranian regime find threatening.
They are all people who are dedicated to the service of their country and of the Baha’i community. Most of them have suffered recurrent persecution over many years on account of their Faith.
Accusations and trial
And now they are the subjects of absurd (but not unusual in Iran) charges – espionage for Israel, insulting religious sanctities and propaganda against the Islamic republic – and will be hauled off to court next week.
They are very unlikely to get a fair trial. In fact, their being on trial at all would be grossly unfair.
What will happen to them? And what will happen to the 30 or so other Baha’is currently in jail on account of their faith and 80 are out on bail?
