by Barney on 20 May 2008

The story of the recent arrests of the “Friends”, the informal Bahá’í coordinating group in Iran, appeared yesterday on the BBC news website. You can read it here.

And Amnesty International have put out a call for urgent action on the case here. Do please respond to this.

At LSA, after we prayed for these souls, it crossed my mind that it may be their capture is some sick form of retaliation for our international convention and election of the Universal House of Justice…

Thanks, Tess, it’s really helpful to have this news spread around.

Alexander, thank you for your prayers. I suspect that the capture is part of an overall campaign to frighten the whole Bahá’í community in Iran and, ultimately, to try to extinguish it.
