Baha’i temple in South America - a temple of light
Great news - fabrication of components for the new Baha’i temple in Chile in South America has begun, as this story on the Baha’i World News Service makes clear:
The structure will be created by nine translucent alabaster and cast-glass “wings,” which during the day will allow sunlight to filter through. At night the temple will emit a warm glow from the interior lighting.
The huge segments that will form the sides and dome of the building are being fabricated in Toronto and then will be transported to Chile.
Mind you, it will take some time before the temple is complete:
It will take two to three years to complete the pieces of the temple that are being fabricated in Canada. At the actual site in Chile, construction of the foundation is tentatively set to begin next October.

Dear Barney,
I found your site to be refreshing in your attempt to relate our beliefs to contemporary issues.
This Fast is the hour that excells all other hours.
I am a pioneer in Argentina, currently taking care of aging parents in USA. My wife is in Argentina handling a lot of responsabilities alone. She has been studying and producing theatre for about ten years now, and will be presenting her play “Tahirih” at a Women’s Theatre Festival in El Dorado Misiones Argentina at the end of this month.
Glad to have found your site. I was looking for news about the Chilean Mother Temple since my wife was originally invited to present her play at the groundbreaking.
Wames Baha’i greetings

Hi, Gene, many thanks for your kind comment on my blog.
I hope that God is blessing your service as a pioneer and also caring for your parents. I think it’s a tough call when the people who loved you and brought you up and launched you into the world begin to need your care. My mother suffered a form of senile dementia in her final years and it was hard to see her deteriorate in her physical and mental health. She had always been very active and alert.
I hope all goes well with your wife’s play. It sounds an exciting and challenging thing to be doing.
I was just checking to see when construction will start and if you have a scheduled completion date. I am hoping to be there for the opening!
An Alaskan Baha’i,
Keith
Hi, Keith, I think you’ll need to check with the National Spiritual Assembly of Chile about this. I haven’t heard any details, but others may know.
